Mary Julia Perez Alderete was born on July 5, 1951 in Taylor, Texas to the late Francisco and Petra Perez. One of six children, Julia lived in the Holland/Bartlett area most of her life. She graduated from Holland High School in 1971. She married Joe Alderete on Oct. 8, 1986 in Williamson County, Texas. She worked at Westinghouse in Round Rock for many years. After she left Westinghouse, she began her dedicated career in corrections. She worked at Bartlett State Jail and then went on to finish her career at Texas Department of Corrections in Gatesville.
Julia enjoyed cooking, playing BINGO and visiting with family and friends. She loved to laugh and have a good time. She also loved her precious cat, Pablito and all the strays in the neighborhood.
Julia is preceded in death by her father Francisco Perez, mother Petra Perez, brothers’ Margarito Perez, Urbano “Sodie” Perez, and Doniciano “Felix” Perez, son Gabriel Alderete, grandson Brock Ramirez, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her husband Joe Alderete of Holland, sons Desi Cantu and wife, Sheena, Mark Cantu and wife, Monica of Holland, Arthur Ramirez of Bartlett, Eric Alderete of Arkansas, and daughter Jonie Alderete of Taylor; Sisters Cenallda Lopez of Bartlett and Silveria Tschoerner and husband Delvin of Schwertner, Tx., numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Julia will be held at Goodnight Funeral Home in Bartlett, Tx. on Sunday December 19, 2021 at 10 AM. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Orlando Lee Lopez Foundation.
