

Robert August Marwitz of Holland, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 30, 1941, in Hamilton, Texas, and grew up in the Pottsville area, graduating from Pottsville High School in 1960.
Throughout his life, Robert had a deep passion for music, dancing, model airplanes, trains, and woodworking. As a young man, he played the accordion in a local dance band. He attended Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, where he met the love of his life at a dance. On November 28, 1964, he married Dorothy Althaus, and together they moved to Houston, Texas, where they welcomed three children: Sheryl, Katrina, and Jason.
In 1976, the family relocated to Holland, Texas, where Robert continued his work as an electrician and farmer for many years. He dedicated thirteen years to serving on the Holland Independent School District Board of Trustees and was active in St. John Lutheran Church in Bartlett. Additionally, he served in the National Guard for six years. Robert contributed to the community by making trophies for the Holland Corn Festival 5K race for eighteen years and was honored as the Holland Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year in 2018.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dorothy; daughter Sheryl Goodnight and husband Kirk of Georgetown; daughter Katrina Pritchard and husband Bruce of Reeds Lake; son Jason Marwitz and wife Jill of Holland; honorary son Jimmy Parker and wife Rechelle of Bryan; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; sister Stella Booker of Rockdale; and brother Jimmy Marwitz of Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Louise Marwitz, and brothers Milton and Leo.
