

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles D. Foster; mother, Lucille P. Johnson Foster; brother William (Hilda) Foster and granddaughter, Heather Masters. He dearly loved his family especially his 3 children: Jack Alvin Foster, Diana J. Roffey and Debra J. Shafer all of Texas. His grandson, Kyle Shafer also of Texas. Along with his brother Jerry (Martha) Foster and sister Charlene (Kenneth) Heady both of Peoria. Along with many nieces and nephews.
Al also had a special friend and family with Mardell Rapp who was his constant companion and will miss him dearly. A daughter Carol Rapp Urish and granddaughter Ellie Urish along with another daughter Julie Rapp Russell, her husband Peter Russell and granddaughter Emily Russell and grandson Reed Russell honor and embrace the privilege of knowing and loving their dear Poppy.
Al retired at 50 from Pabst in order to enjoy life and help friends and family with various projects. He was a faithful friend and always ready to serve others. Al helped many businesses such as Staley’s Sand and Gravel, Schielein Construction, Wolford Excavating, Dan Hordesky State Farm Insurance, Carol’s Flower Shop, and AdCo Advertising Agency with special trusted projects. He enjoyed travelling and had a lifetime love of gardening and farming.
A celebration of life service will be on Tuesday at 6pm at the family farm and home of Mardell Rapp, 4709 Mohn Way just off Smithville Road in Bartonville. The Rev. Raymond Barclay will officiate. Al’s families will welcome his friends and family ahead of the service from 4p-6p and invite everyone to share a meal together following the service. For recorded directions or information call 309-696-0592. A private burial service will be held at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Skylines – Salem or UnityPoint Health Methodist Foundation – Hospice.
