Arthur is survived by his son, Corey (Shannon) Coats; his daughter, Courtney Coats; three granddaughters; two grandsons; one great-grandson; and one great-granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Mackie; his brothers, Barry and Paul Coats; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jane Ann Michel.
Arthur worked as a truck driver for Keystone Steel and Wire, where he also served as a union representative. Away from work, he enjoyed playing pool and golf, and he was known as a snappy dresser—always spit and polished. His care for others extended naturally to animals, especially dogs. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Above all, he was deeply involved in his grandchildren’s baseball and softball.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 12, from 10:00–11:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will conclude at Lancaster Cemetery. Pastor Jack Thompson will officiate.
Memorials may be made to PAWS.
