Arvis Foster

He was born Nov. 3, 1926 in Strawberry, AR to James and Annie (Motes) Foster. He married Julia Downs in Peoria on Sept. 9, 1950. She survives.

Also surviving are 4 children, Becky Jaramillo, Susan (Doug) Horton, Randy (Bettina) Foster, Anita (David) Anderson; son-in-law, Edward Peña; 5 grandchildren, Julia (Brian) Sullivan, Sara (James) Dunbar, Samuel Foster, Deanna Horton, Andrew Horton; 2 great-grandchildren, Liam and Rory Sullivan; 2 sisters, Argie Sullivan, Vera Mae Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Elisabeth Foster-Peña; and sister, Emma.

Arvis was a US Army veteran of WWII and Korea. He owned and operated Arvis Sunoco in Peoria for 45 years, retiring in 1997, and was former President of the Illinois Gasoline Association.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel in Bartonville with Rev. Elaine Bolen officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Chapel. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
