Bev Ann Beck, 66, of Bartonville, Illinois passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. She was born December 11, 1951 in Peoria, Illinois to Wilbur and Betty (Benson) Behrends. She married Harry Beck on August 14, 1971 in Glasford, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survived by daughter Jennifer (David), son Jonathan (Tanya), and three smart and funny grandchildren whom she loved so much (Lang, Kai, and Landon). She also leaves behind the countless others who lives she touched so deeply. A soccer coach, Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader, and a die hard sports fan who followed and cheered on so many young adults throughout her life. With the heaviest of hearts she leaves behind Harry Beck her husband of 47 years. They shared a love that knew no boundaries and will endure far beyond any earthly loss.
Bev paved the way for others by becoming a working mother in a male dominated world in the mid 70s. She endured discrimination and fought for all women to have fair opportunity in the workplace. She was always very proud of her contribution to this movement.
With her strong spirit and stubborn streak she lived each day with a sense of humor and a zest for life. Her mantra was always “One step. One day. My way.” Bev never allowed anything to define her, especially her illness. She has been called home and is now at peace, the legacy she leaves behind is filled with hope and love for all.
