Billy David Altum, 85, formerly of Bartonville, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Farmington Country Manor in Farmington, Illinois. He was born August 26, 1926 in Wenona, Illinois. He was the son of Milton and Ora (Roberts) Altum. He married Norma Heilman August 24,1958 in Peoria, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2006 in Peoria, Illinois. He is also preceded in death by one granddaughter and one grandson, 6 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by two daughters, Pauline Stevenson of Peoria, Illinois and Marlene (John) Cook of Washington, Illinois. He has one son, Billy G. Altum of Peoria. He is survived by three grandchildren, Julie Johnson, Annie Stevenson, and Joshua Altum, he has one great grandson, Sidney Crane. Billy worked many years as an equipment operator at Caterpillar, retiring in 1982. He was a WWII Army veteran. He was a member of the VFW Post 6026 in El Paso, Illinois and a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville. Private graveside services will be held at the Parkview Cemetery.
