He was born October 8, 1936 in Peoria, IL to Forrest and Hildred (Reedy) Harmison. He married Claudette Jenkins on October 8, 1955. She preceded him in death on June 25, 1998 in Peoria.
He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and a sister.
Surviving are; his children, Jeffrey (Jamie) Harmison of Dunlap and Jodi (Alex) Reid of Mapleton; his fiancé, Phyllis Wiebler, of Bartonville; 2 grandchildren, Sarah Harmison and Jaden Lindsey; 2 step grandchildren, Seth Lindsey and Alex Reid; 2 brothers, Glen Harmison of Peoria County and Jerry (Sharon) Harmison of Varna; a sister, Shirley Clark of Bartonville and several nieces and nephews. His extended family includes several special children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bobby was a US Army veteran serving from 1957-59. He was a member of the VFW Bartonville Post #3883 and the American Legion Limestone Post #979.
Bobby was a barber in partnership with his father for many years at their shop on Western Ave in Peoria. He then worked as a security guard for about 10 years at the Pabst Brewery in Peoria until it closed in 1982, when he was the last person to lock the door. He then worked in delivery and sales for Great Plains Gas Co. until he retired in 1998.
Bobby is remembered as an outgoing, kind-hearted & carefree man who loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the outdoors. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and talking with his neighbors.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Deacon Lou Tomlianovich will officiate. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 2nd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:15 pm. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
