Bonnie Smith

She was born June 26, 1919 in Liberty, N.C. to George and Nannie (Cates) Staley. She married Jiles C. Smith April 24, 1937 in Reidsville, N.C. He passed away April 6, 2011 in Pekin. Sunday April 24 would have been Bonnie and Jiles 74th wedding anniversary, which they will celebrate together in paradise. She was also preceded in death by two sons: Jiles, Jr., and Thomas, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons: George (Senna) Smith of Hanna City, Lyle (Dodie) Smith of Pekin, two daughters-in-law: Barbara Smith of Tampa, Fl, Paula Smith of Glasford, eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Bonnie first worked in furniture manufacturing in North Carolina, then for Martin Aircraft in Baltimore, once she and her husband moved to Peoria she was a cashier at Phil’s Rialto Dry Cleaners in Peoria then retired in 1981 from General Methods in Peoria. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Bartonville.

Funeral services will be Saturday April 23, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Smithville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Foundation.
