

Mapleton – David F. Cannon, 79, of Mapleton, IL passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 14, 1934 in Peoria, IL to Frank and Ada (Carson) Cannon. He married his wife of 59 years, Lorraine Parson, on August 7, 1954 in Peoria, IL.
David was a veteran of the United States Navy and member of American Legion Post 979. Following his service to our country he went on to be a Boilermaker for Local 60 from 1957 till his retirement in 1995.
His hobbies included fishing, traveling, and building model airplanes. The neighborhood man across the lake called him Mr. Wizard because David could fix anything. He also loved to spend time with his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. One could say David never met a stranger.
Surviving is his wife Lorraine Cannon of Mapleton, IL, children; David (Becky) Cannon of Peoria, IL, Linda (Jim) Long of Peoria, IL, and Steve Cannon of Glasford, IL, six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and his dog Dixie. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will held at 11 am Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Visitation will be from 9 – 11 am Wednesday. Interment will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery.
