He was born April 26, 1943 in Peoria to Russell and Edith (Yankee) Semelroth. He married Susan K. Rosenbohm on April 16, 1966 in Bartonville. She passed away April 4, 2011 in Bartonville. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Carolyn Chapman.
Survivors include two sons: Brian (Shari) Semelroth, Russell (Cheri) Semelroth all of Peoria, grandchildren: Tyler S, Jessie, Brittani, Tyler F, Conner, and Camren. Also surviving are his siblings: Barbara (Eldred) Cooley of Longmont, CO, Darrell Semelroth of Oswego, James (Carol) Semelroth of La Guna Nigel, CA, Margaret (Brad) Gardner of Wilmington, CT, Debbie Bear of Morton, and Carmen (Ken) Hoffman of Hanna City.
David is a graduate of Limestone Community High School. After graduating he served 4 years in the US Air Force, where he was an air conditioning specialist at Fortuna Air Force Base in North Dakota. He then studied at De Vry Tech in Chicago. David worked at Keystone Steel and Wire as an engineer for 35 years, retiring December of 2001.
In his spare time he was an accomplished woodworker. He made many pieces of furniture and toys over the course of time but he was most proud of the 44 rockers he made for the new babies of family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 from 5 to7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Smithville Cemetery with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crisis Nursery in Peoria or the Limestone JROTC program.
