Eugene "Gene" Roemer passed away at 5:51pm on July 23, 2024 at the age of 79, in his home surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Gene was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in October 2020, and fought this aggressive disease for four years against many odds. Gene married Marjorie Blanco of Spring Valley, Illinois on October 28, 1967 and they had three children. Ed and Tammie (Finley) of Bartonville, Illinois, Tricia and Louis Hecox of Canton, Illinois, and Mike and Carol (Beck) of Geneseo, Illinois. Gene was a wonderful and caring husband to his wife, he was a supportive and loving father to his children, and an amazing grandpa to his 8 grandchildren, Derek and Kayla Roemer, Lindsey and Sylvia Hecox, Miranda, Leah, Colin and Justin Roemer who all adored and loved him.
Gene worked 30 years at Caterpillar in East Peoria where he retired in June 1994. Gene will be remembered as an avid Atlanta Braves fan, he loved bowling and bowled in several leagues and tournaments through the years. He started bowling consecutively in leagues in the year 1963 and last bowled in a league in 2016. He made numerous friends bowling in the sport he loved. He loved being outside working on his yard/lawn. Most of all he loved his family who meant so much to him.
