Frank R. Batton-95- Bartonville IL “He Gone” If Frank would’ve his way, that’s all this obituary would say, but those who knew Frank, knew he had a story worth telling once he was gone. Frank passed away on Feb 15th, 2021, at 12:45 am, at Richard Owens Hospice home. Frank was born Sept 1st, 1925 to Martha Surface and Eugene Roger Batton in Gideon, Missouri. He was raised by William & Bertha Hutchinson. Frank is survived by his two sons, Steve (Gina) Batton of Peoria, Brian (Sheila) Batton of Bartonville, one daughter; Beverly Sutton of Morehouse, Missouri, 11 grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren. Frank left this world to be reunited with his wife of 49 years, Cozette, two sons, Michael and Roger, his sister Rosie, and granddaughter Tammy. Frank worked as a truck driver for Dohrn Transfer and Churchill Transfer, retiring after 25 years. In his down time, he loved fishing trips to Little Swan Lake, hunting, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Bradley Basketball, gardening, spending time with family and scratching off lottery tickets- as long as they were winners. Frank and Cozette built a tradition of Friday night family dinners. Frank would start prepping his vegetables in the spring, until fall came around, then he spent his day harvesting vegetables. If he wasn’t working on his garden, he was working on his flower beds. Frank continued to mow his own lawn until the age of 93, saying “well I need something to do”. He spent most mornings feeding stray neighborhood cats that he swore he “hated”, but secretly loved as evidenced by him continuing to buy them food every couple of weeks. Frank was a master of one liner jokes, and could fix most anything brought his way. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Bartonville Fire Department. Frank’s family would like to thank Richard Owen’s Hospice for ensuring that Frank finished his journey comfortably. A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Swan Lake Memory Garden Mausoleum in Peoria. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
