Gordon Charles Wallace, Jr, 91, of Peoria, Illinois passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, surrounded by family and love. He was born, June 6, 1934, in Peoria, to the late Gordon Sr and Marvel Wallace of Peoria, Illinois.
He married Evelyn Marie (Turner) Wallace on September 21, 1957. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary shortly before her death in 2023. He is survived by his five children, Sherry Wallace, Terry Wallace (Paula Burgin), Cindy (Phillips) Wallace, Steve Wallace (Stephanie Reeder), Susan (Ronk) Wallace (Scott Johnson); six grandchildren, Kari Gallup (Jason Gallup), Clayton Wallace, Cody Wallace, Mitchell Ronk, Colton Ronk and Brayton (Kayla) Wallace; four great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Nash Gallup, Cooper Ronk and Benjamin Wallace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Sr and Marvel Wallace; sister JoAnn Berry and brother Jack.
He graduated from Peoria High School and attended Bradley University. He proudly & honorably served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Leonard, Wood, Missouri. After serving his country, he worked at Pabst Brewery until they closed in 1983. He then worked at Rainier Brewery in Seattle, Washington until 1989, when he accepted a position in New Jersey with Anheuser Busch.
After retiring from Anheuser Busch in 1993, Gordon & Evelyn, returned to Peoria and the family home their children grew up in. To his kids’ amazement, he worked part time as a school bus driver and route was actually in his own neighborhood. He had an uncanny way of making lifelong friends throughout his life. He enjoyed being Mr. Fix it and
loved doing house projects for his kids. Bowling in a league with friends from Pabst, brought him much enjoyment. He loved spending time with his grandchildren in the train room he set up for them and somehow always managed to beat his grandkids in Skip-Bo when they let him play. There wasn’t a day in the past several years that he didn’t have a chocolate shake and family knew not to come visit without one.
Gordon brought so much happiness to his family, friends and all he touched. He will be greatly missed.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel.
