James E. Sullivan, 78, of Washington, Ill., passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.James was born in Peoria on March 1, 1936, to Edwin and Catherine (Hinds) Sullivan. He married Emma Jean Dreher on Aug. 3, 1974. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marlene Meisse and Maxine Masters; grandchildren, Shay and Billy; and infant daughter, Rhonda Sue.Also surviving are three daughters, Kathy (Greg) Hunt of Holt, Mo., Cheryl (Tim) Ludwig of Shell Knob, Mo., and Kelly (Darin) Denisar of Jacksonville, Ill.; four stepchildren, Eugene (Linda) Campbell of Washington, Ill., Patricia Hardy of Orlando, Fla., Ronald Joe (Rose) Campbell of Peoria, Ill., and Karen Lane of Sunnyland, Ill.; brother, Larry (Ellen) Sullivan of Bartonville, Ill.; grandchildren, Heather, T.J., Brittany, Beth, Richard, Riley, Mike, Richard, Cheryl, Brandon, Chad, Jaime, Amy, Erik and Josh; great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Evan, Emma, Justin, Samantha, Ashley, Brett, Austin, Chelsea, Hailey, Ethan, Madeline, Lilleth, Brian, Lydia, Elyce, Tenley and Adelyn; and also many nieces and nephews.James enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 17, and served as a teletype operator in Hawaii. After serving his country, he began working for the Rock Island Railroad, and later become a dispatcher for Commercial Lovelace and Hyman Freightways, from where he retired in the late 1980's. Jim was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan. He loved all sports, ranging from golf to pool. He also enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies and quarters.Services for Jim will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Pastor Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
