Janet L. Wilken Wheeler

Janet L. Wheeler, 82, of Bartonville, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Heddington Oaks in West Peoria, Illinois surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 17, 1931 in Peoria, Illinois. She was the daughter of Bernard and Garnet (McCorkle) Wilken. She first married Harold Landwehr and later married Robert Wheeler in March of 1979 in Peoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2006 in Peoria, Illinois.

Janet is survived by five children, Dennis (Debby) Landwehr of Washington, Illinois, Paula (John) Scudder of Bartonville, Illinois, Nannette (Bruce) Bontz of Glasford, Illinois, Laura (Michael) Fehl of Bartonville, Illinois, and Linda (Timothy) Dillon of Trivoli, Illinois. She has 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren surviving. She also has one brother, Richard Wilken of St. George, Utah.

Janet had worked in the cafeteria of the Monroe Grade School for several years, later she owned and operated the Bartonville Pancake House for many years. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Bartonville, where she assisted with funeral dinners, was a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir and assisted with vacation Bible school. She was a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Illinois. The Rev. Michael Jones will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
