Jen was born on October 11, 1972 in Peoria, IL to Mike and Charlene Cheatham.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her parents, one son, Zachary (Savannah) Selk; a brother, Michael (Savannah) Cheatham; nephew, Caden; her beloved pets, Franco, Oreo; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jen was preceded in death by her beloved Sean, her grandparents, two aunts and two uncles.
Jen graduated from Limestone High School in 1991 and went on to graduate from Methodist School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for over 30 years and most recently as Director of Nursing at Liberty Village in Clinton, IL.
Jen's passion was for helping others. She excelled in school sports and activities, forming lasting bonds with her many friends. After graduating, she pursued a nursing career at Methodist School of nursing, dedicating over 30 years to caring for others. Her greatest joy was her son Zachary, whom she supported whole heartedly in his academic and athletic pursuits, where she gained her love of baseball. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan, attending many games with her son Zachary and mom.
She also enjoyed participating in Fantasy Football drafts with her son and brother Mike. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, Haunted Houses couldn't scare her away! She loved decorating for the holidays, and always made the house cozy and fun. Although her love of holidays was great, getting up early was not! Many Christmas mornings she, along with her brother Mike, had to be rousted from bed to celebrate!
Jen loved animals and through the years had many. Franko, a Black Lab and Oreo, a black and white cat, were her companies for the last few years.
Jen was a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a sister-in-law, a mom, and a friend to many. She made everyone feel special and worth something, even if she didn't know them well.
We cannot begin to share the depth of love we have for Jen, nor can we share the grief of losing her.
Cremation has been accorded. A private inurnment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to ALS Association and Friends of Bartonville Fire Department.
