

Jerry Sewell, 81, of Bartonville, Illinois, died Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the McLean County Nursing Home in Normal, Illinois. He was born on April 1, 1933 in Henderson, Tennessee. He was the son of Hazie and Maude (Browder) Sewell.
He is survived by four sons, Joseph L. Sewell of Austin, Texas, Rodney E. Sewell of Missouri, Edward D. Sewell and Gary N. Sewell both of Buda, Texas. He is survived by one sister, Sylvia Robinson of Peoria, Illinois, three brothers, Rocky (Mary) Sewell of Bartonville, Illinois, Claude (Toma Lee) Sewell of Bulverde, Texas, Chuck (Leona) Sewell of Las Vegas, Nevada, sister-in-laws, Garnet Sewell of Galesburg, Illinois and Ethel Sewell of Peoria, Illinois. He has several step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Haze and Dennis Sewell.
Jerry was a retired Air Force veteran where he served 23 years. He was most proud of obtaining a Master EOD (Master Blaster) badge, he obtained his highest rank of Master Sergeant before retiring, and was awarded the following medals, Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Viet Nam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Air Force longevity with 4 Bronze Oak Leafs, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Both the Army and Air Force ( 3 Oak Leaf Clusters) Good Conduct Medals.
He also worked as an automotive manager for several dealerships and shops for many years.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in a National Military Cemetery with Military Honors. The Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements. You may create an online condolence at www.davison-fultonbartonvillechapel.com.
