John L Melton

Bartonville – John L. Melton, 80, of Bartonville, IL passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center. John was born October 25, 1931 in West Frankfort, IL to his mother Nellie (Shaw) Melton. John married Mary Walker February 13, 1951 in East St. Louis, IL.

Surviving is his wife Mary of Bartonville, IL, his daughter Vonna (Gary) Hale of Western Grove, AR, his son John (Cindy) Melton of Coral Springs, FL, and his daughter Leeann (Tim)Feicke of Pekin, IL, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his mother, father, step-father, sister, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter.

John was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1952 to 1953. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for thirty five years as a flame cutting operator. John was also a charter member of Laramie Street Baptist Church in Peoria. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting during his early years, and spending time with family and friends.

Services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Laramie Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
