He was born November 26, 1942 in Beaver Dam, KY to Robert and Syble Marie (Bratcher) Wells. He married Ruthmarie Andrews on June 2, 1963 in the Texas Church, Trivoli. She survives along with four children: Andrea (Ron) Moberly of East Peoria, James (Natalie) Wells of Lake Camelot, William Wells of Marseilles, IL, Maryellen Wells of Pekin, four grandchildren: Natasha, Adam, Alexis, Noah, and one great-granddaughter, Brielle. He is also survived by three sisters: Karen, Anita, Brenda, and three brothers: Wendell, Glen, and Roger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and stepmother Alleta Wells Hays.
Joe worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 31 years retiring in 1993. He was a member and Secretary of the Leather Guild, and a member of the Hanna City Sportsman’s Club.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel.
Private burial will be in Smithville Cemetery at a later date.
