Katherene Mae Ladean Birkett

Katherene "Katie" Birkett, 45, of Bartonville, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at her home. Born in Peoria, on March 31, 1980, she was the daughter of John and Cynthia (Hoover) Bohannan. On October 23, 2004, she married Thad Birkett. Of Bartonville, he survives.

Further surviving Katie are two daughters, Jesilynn and Brianna Birkett; her father, John Bohannan; four sisters, Gidget (Jack) St. Cin, Cassie (Tom) Clark, Paula (Tom) Wolfe, and Amber (Mike) Sea; best friends, Stephanie Cusac and Mirande Hoyle; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and her beloved dogs, Maggie, Max, and Piper. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cynthia Bohannan; and her brother, Johnny Bohannan.

Katie earned a degree as an industrial electrician from ICC. She was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, and enjoyed crafting, being outdoors - especially hunting, fishing, and camping, and attended the annual event Women in the Outdoors with her mother-in-law. Above all else, she loved being a softball mom to her girls and attending their various activities over the years. They were the joy of her life.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Service will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the funeral home, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
