Born on November 10, 1977, in DeKalb, Il to Kenneth and Anna Marie (Stoddard) Grutter, he loved being in the dirt playing with his tractors from the time he could hold them. There wasn’t a puzzle he couldn’t solve or a problem he couldn’t fix. He graduated Byron High School where he swam and ran track. He was also in 4H. Keenan had so many awards his mom built him a ‘shrine’ in his room to display them all.
Keenan attended Bradley University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management and was a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
College was where he met his wife, Michele (Fouse) who he married on June 12, 2004 and had been together for over 20 years. Keenan built a beautiful life with her having two remarkable daughters, Payton and Dylen Grutter.
Keenan loved his family. Loved his girls and worked his tail off to provide a wonderful life for them. Everything he ever did was for ‘his girls’.
He worked at IDOT for over 20 years as the Equipment Tech as his day job. After hours was when his fun started. He never wanted to be idle and was always working on something.
As when he was a kiddo, he loved playing in the dirt and playing with his tractors. Keenan loved farming. Every spring and fall you could find him in the fields. Farming was in his blood. Even in his down time, you’d find him on YouTube watching farming videos.
When he wasn’t in the fields, he would be at one of his laundromats, repairing, cleaning, learning, building…you name it—he was doing it. He did everything. An absolute jack of all trades. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix, make, or figure out.
In recent years, he found another hobby making videos. He was also a huge YouTuber on his channel Following Keenan ! where he just recently hit 100,000 subscribers and received a silver plaque. If you want to know him, check out his channel. His humor, sarcasm and all-around great guy personality shines through.
Keenan was an incredible husband, father, friend, human. He’d give you the shirt off his back and help whoever needed it. His death is an absolute tragedy. He will be greatly missed.
We love you.
Surviving Keenan are his wife, Michele, two daughters, Payton and Dylen Grutter of Edwards; aunt, Cher Stoddard of Granville; a niece, Angela Grutter; grandmother, Helen Meyer of Bartonville; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
