Margaret was born August 1, 1931 in Saginaw, MI to Fred and Ida (Seymour) Kniebbe. She was married to Kenneth Roe from 1950 to 1972. He passed away on February 4, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Gaida, and all four of her sisters: Patricia, Frances, Mary Ann, and Nancy.
Margaret graduated from St. Mary Cathedral School in June of 1949 and went to work at Michigan Bell Telephone. During this time she completed her nursing certificate at St. Mary’s Hospital where she became a nurse. A devout Catholic, she spent countless hours volunteering in Parish Activities at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bartonville. She particularly enjoyed the semi-annual garage sale events where she specialized in displaying curious items of unspeakable value. Margaret also spent several years working as a volunteer docent at Wildlife Prairie Park. She retired from Chris Hoerr and Sons Distribution Center starting as an order secretary and ending her career as an executive manager.
She was a passionate gardener and enjoyed cultivating wild roses brought home from Upper Michigan, where she loved to roam the wilderness.
Surviving are here three sons: Michael (Orvalee) Roe, Wayne Roe, Frederick Roe, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge Carle Hospice for their loving and compassionate care during her final days at home.
Honoring Mrs. Roe’s wishes, cremation rites have taken place. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11 a.m. Fr. Charles Klamut will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the church or to Wildlife Prairie Park.
