Marvin Ray Gordon

Glasford - Marvin R. Gordon, age 85, passed peacefully Monday, September 20, 2021. Marvin was born June 3, 1936 to Francis Gordon and Lola Belle (Coats) Dobey in Toledo Illinois. He married Linda S (Hansen) Gordon on February 8, 1954. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2021.

Marvin is survived by 5 children, Vickie Gordon (Linda Brillon), Douglas (Sandra) Gordon, Patricia (Richard) Walker, Karen Dawson (Jerry Porters), Barbara (Richard) Russell, 8 grand children and 11 great grand children, along with siblings Larry (Sandy) Gordon, Jim (Linda) Gordon, Dorothy Caho, Richard (Nan) Gordon, Bill (Kathy) Dobey, and Toni Dobey and Sisters-in-law Judy Gordon and Chris Dobey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, step mom Neva Gordon, one grandson Corey Dawson, and brothers Gene (Shirley) Gordon, Michael Gordon, Steve Dobey.

Marvin was a chef at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was an avid softball fan and coach, leading the IB Diamonds girls softball team to many fun and successful summer seasons.

Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be a celebration of life for both Marvin and Linda on Sunday October 10, 2021 from 2-4pm at Butler Haynes Park Pavilion in Mapleton. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
