Born on December 16, 1933, in Peoria, IL, Joan was lovingly raised by Amelia and Roy Glasford. She married the love of her life, Glenn Harold Miller, on September 28, 1958, in Pekin, IL. Together, they built a life filled with family, travel, and devotion.
Joan is survived by her five children, Glenna Baker (Steve) of Jasper, GA, Grant Miller (Samantha) of Dickson, TN, Julianna Miller Newman of New York, NY, Amy Wendling (Mike) of Pleasant Plains, IL, and Jeanette Miller of State College, PA.
She was a proud grandmother to twelve grandchildren: Chandra (Miller) Scheffert, Grant Miller Jr., Amber Bruce, Cody Miller, Matthew Gianakos, Andrew Gianakos, Anna Bruce, Michelle (Gianakos) Higdon, Abby (Bruce) Baines, Abraham Bruce, Sasha Mohoruk, and Conrad Mohoruk. She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren and is survived by her sister-in-law, Lois Miller of Springfield, IL.

A homemaker for much of her life, Joan also worked in reservations for Ozark Airlines at the Peoria Airport, in post-departure services for America West Airlines at the Las Vegas Airport, and in customer service at Target in Marietta, GA. Her passion for aviation was evident—she loved flying and could recite aircraft trivia. She traveled extensively with her husband and family, embracing the world with curiosity and joy.
Known affectionately as “Granny” by her grandchildren, Joan was also an accomplished amateur baker. She won multiple awards for her cookie collections, including two top honors, and even shared her creations with celebrities such as Roy Clark and Barbara Mandrell.
Though petite in stature, Joan was a powerful presence - radiating love, warmth, and unwavering support. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, attending countless sporting events, dance recitals, and concerts over the decades. Her grandchildren were spoiled with homemade cookies, sleepovers, and epic Uno battles.
