She was born on February 26, 1935 in Carroll, Iowa to Donald J. and Dorothy M. (Dierks) Smith. She married Donald P. Maher on July 16, 1955 in Carroll, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2017 in West Peoria, Illinois. She is also preceded in death by her infant son, brother, James C. Smith, and sister, Patricia (Bernie) Hill.
Nancy is survived by two sons; Dennis (Jean) Maher and Matthew (Tammy) Maher, three grandchildren; Whitney (Kevin) Breweur, Daniel Maher and Delaney Maher, great grandchildren Kali Michele Breweur and her twin siblings on the way.
Nancy began her working career at OSF in the late 1950s and later became a full time mother and wife. After her sons were grown she returned to work as a pharmacy tech at CVS (Revco) for the next 27 years, retiring in 2016 at the age of 81. She also served on the Limestone Walters public water board since its inception.
She enjoyed being a part of any and all adventures throughout the years and especially those involving the activities of her grandchildren. Her family was always most important to her. Nancy was a very kind and giving person and never met anyone that she couldn’t talk with for hours. We were blessed to be a part of her life and our family has many wonderful memories to hold onto. We will miss her dearly.
