

He was born July 15, 1930 in Winchester, IL to Orval and Maude (Rogers) Davis. He married Connie Lou Lyons December 9, 1952 in Decatur, IL and she preceded him in death January 6, 2000 in Bartonville.
Surviving are his children, Orvalee (Michael) Roe of Mapleton, Richard Davis of Bartonville and David (Tonya Smith) Davis of Hickory, NC; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Betty Lyons of Mapleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister and 1 brother-in-law whom he raised.
Orval was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Worcester as a radio man. He was very proud to serve our country and loved to show everyone his Around the World Card.
He retired from the FAA after over 30 years of service as an Air Traffic Controller. In retirement, he enjoyed working part time at Detweiller Marina with his wife and spending winters in Texas and Florida.
He was an avid Nascar Fan. His biggest thrill was being able to work at the Daytona Speedway during Daytona race week and meeting many of his favorite drivers. He was also a diehard Cardinals fan.
Orval was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bartonville where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 16, 2016 with the Rev. Michael Jones officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Cremation has been accorded by Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the St. John’s Lutheran Church Food Pantry and Unity Point Health Methodist Hospice.
