Patty Ann Herren-Jones

Born December 1, 1934, in Mattoon, Illinois, Patty was the daughter of Ralph Coats and Zelma Vaultonburg. Patty married Ralph Jones, and together they shared many cherished years before his passing in 2021.

Patty dedicated much of her professional life as an executive secretary for the State of Illinois. Outside of work, Patty’s passions were rooted in simple things: tending to her flowers, spending time outdoors, hunting for treasures at garage sales, cooking meals, and organizing family gatherings. She had a gift for telling jokes.

Above all, Patty was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her family meant everything to her, and she poured her heart into every role she held.

She is survived by her children: Joycelyn (John) Hartman, Kathleen "Kathy" (Mark) Picco, Wade (Jutta) Herren, and Robert (Bernetta Smith) Herren; her grandchildren: Benjamin, Eric, Larissa, Autumn, Jessica, Kellyn, Adam, David, Kevin, and Christopher; and great-grandchildren: Riley, Vivian, Marley, Jude, Xavier, Alice, and Hailey and Odie. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth (Karen) Coats, and nephew, Justin Coats.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents; her son, David Herren; her infant daughter, Elisha and her sister, Helen Washington.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
