

Paul W. Sutphin, 82, of Rural Bartonville, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. He was born December 21, 1929 in Dugger, Indiana. He was the son of Walter M. and Sarah Hazle (Gosney) Sutphin. He married Madelyn L. Greiner on November 22, 1958 in Peoria.
She survives along with one daughter, Cynthia (Russell) Taylor of Roodhouse, Illinois and one son, Walter Sutphin of Plainfield, Illinois . He is survived by three grandchildren, Jessica, Rachel, and Zachary Sutphin. He is preceded in death by three brothers, John, Walter and William Sutphin.
He worked over 60 years as an electrician at Caterpillar Inc, retiring in 2010.
Paul was a Korean Conflict Veteran, serving from 1951 to 1955 in the Naval Seabees. He was a past member of the Limestone Walters School Board, Past President of the Limestone High School Boosters Club, Instrumental in organizing the Mid Illini Boosters Club, Illinois Masonic Lodge 243 A.F. and A.M., Peoria Consistory, Ansar Temple, Order of the Eastern Star, Peoria Elks Lodge, he was the local Commander of Chapter 243 of the Korean War Veterans of America, Past Illinois State Commander of the Korean War Veterans of America, Past National Commander of the Naval Seabees Veterans of America from 1994- 1996, a member of the VFW of Bartonville, and the American Legion Post 979 of Bartonville.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. L. Arvil Bass will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from Noon to 2:00 PM at the funeral Chapel. Cremation rites will be accorded, inurnment will be at a later date in Parkview Cemetery.
