

Randolph T. “Randy” Alwood, 73, of Hanna City, Illinois, died Saturday, November 1, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 21, 1940 in Peoria, Illinois to Richard and Teresa (Jakoby) Alwood. On October 9, 1966 in Hanna City, Randy married Frances J. Burdess who survives along with their sons Anthony (Jenna) Alwood of Hanna City and Todd Alwood of Chicago; his grandsons Conor Alwood and Lawson Alwan; brother Richard (Trudy) Alwood; brother-in-law John Burdess; sister-in-law Carol Alwood; two aunts and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Alwood, Teresa and Charles Tauber, his sister Carol Jean, his brother David Alwood, and his sisters-in-law Donna Burdess and Melba Ferguson.
Randy served in the Air National Guard from 1963 till 1969, and he worked at Central Illinois Light Company (CILCO) for over 30 years retiring in 1995. He also served as the Logan-Trivoli Multi-township Assessor for 24 years retiring in 2013. He also worked with the Logan Township road crew, where he enjoyed plowing snow on his Lake Camelot route. For the past 14 years, he worked as a contract water operator for the Timber-Logan Rural Water District.
Randy enjoyed attending his grandson’s sporting events along with those of his great-nieces and great nephews. He also enjoyed part-time farming and in the past had raised cows and sheep. Two of his favorite toys were his ‘59’ Corvette and his Kubota backhoe. He was a member of the Hanna City United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post in Glasford, a Certified Illinois Assessing Officer and the Hanna City Sportsman Club.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Hanna City United Methodist Church. Pastor Bob DeBolt will officiate. Visitation will be from 4PM until 7PM Tuesday at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel and 30 minutes prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Smithville Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to his church, Smithville Cemetery or the Peoria Area Honor Flight.
