He was born on September 25, 1940 in Moline to Gazel and Eva (Younkowski) Almasi. He married Patricia Marchand on September 28, 1963 in Metamora, and she preceded him in death on September 24, 2021.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Nancy) Almasi, of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter, Michele (Craig) Matthis, of Bartonville; five grandchildren, Connor (Casey) Almasi, Brooke (Michael) Noack, Caleb Almasi, Zachary Kokinda, and Trey Johnston; great-grandson, Samuel Noack; brother, Joseph Almasi; and sister, Rosemary Oppe.
In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Josephine Settles, and Patricia Stump; and granddaughter, Michaela Kokinda.
Robert graduated from Farmington High School in 1959, and went to work for Keystone Steel and Wire. He began his employment at CILCO in 1968 as a Meter Man. In 1980, after completing an apprenticeship program he became a Meter Technician. He retired in 2001.
He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, and enjoyed fishing, and watching the Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, Notre Dame Football, and Iowa State Cyclone Athletics. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 10AM on Saturday, July 02, 2022 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, July 01, 2022 at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Contributions may be made to CDH International (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia) in his granddaughter’s memory.
