Robert Leon "Lee" Simmons, 89, of Bartonville, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on June 30, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a son of Eddard Simmons and Orabell (Ingram) Simmons. Lee married Waltraud "Wally" E. Schroeckhaas on January 22, 1961 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2023 in Peoria.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
Lee is survived by his two children, Carol Paul of Washington and David Simmons of Schaumburg; two grandchildren, Nicole Colyar and Megan (Mike) Pohlson, both of Washington; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He worked as an autobody repairman for Jim McComb Chevrolet in Peoria for 43 years, retiring in 1997.
Lee was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Bartonville. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
Lee's memorial visitation will be from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Monday, July 21, 2025 at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, with his memorial service immediately following.
