Robert "Bob" L. Vericker

Bob was born on October 30, 1949 in Peoria. He married Susan Flier on January 24, 1985.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Vericker of Bartonville; son, Andrew Vericker of Bartonville; mother, Annabelle Vericker of North Pekin; sister, Barbara (Jim Clagett) Vericker of Snohomish, WA; and brother, Clement (Sandy) Vericker of St. Pete Beach, FL. One brother, Steven Vericker preceded him in death.

He is also survived by his father-in-law and best friend, Robert (Shirley) Flier of Bartonville; sister-in-law, Christine Bosecker of Bartonville; brothers-in-law, Stephen (Mary Jane) Flier of Bartonville; Timothy Flier of Bartonville; Matthew (Debbie) Flier of Peoria; and Dale Flier of Washington, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews.

An Army veteran, Bob served his country during the Vietnam War, and served 18 years in the Army Reserves as a member of the 801st Combat Support Hospital, retiring with the rank of Major.

Bob worked for 10 years at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville, before earning his Associate Degree in Nursing, and later his BSN from Graceland University.

He worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years. During that time, he was employed by OSF, Methodist, Proctor, Pekin, and Hopedale Hospitals, and eventually ended his nursing career at the Bob Michel VA Clinic in Peoria.

Bob enjoyed golfing with Andy, sailing, hunting, gardening, classic cars, reading, and fishing, especially during annual family vacation trips to Minnesota. He loved watching the Chicago Bears, Dodgers, and Illinois football and basketball games. Bob had the kindest heart, and lived his life in service to others - his family, his country, his patients, friends, and neighbors.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.
