Roger A. Fitzgerald, 70, of Bartonville, Illinois, died at 7:45 PM Saturday, September 3, 2011 at his residence. He was born June 15, 1941 in Peoria, Illinois. He was the son of Arthur and Rozzella (DeWeerth) Fitzgerald. He married Dawn S. Fitzpatrick on June 24, 1962 in Bartonville, Illinois. She survives, along with two sons, Duane (Debbie) Fitzgerald and Chad (Marcy)Fitzgerald all of Bartonville. He is survived by four grandchildren, Kayla (Jason) Lykins of Mapleton, Heather (Josh) Carlson of Washington, Illinois, Justin Fitzgerald and Adriana Fitzgerald both of Bartonville. He has one great grandson, Jaron Lykins of Mapleton. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Edward (Norma) Rose of Bartonville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Roger first worked as a laborer for the Mel Allen Construction Company, and later as a Teamster for over 30 years at Lauterbach Lumber Company retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Limestone American Legion Post 979 of Bartonville, and was a member of Teamsters Local Union #627. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church of Bartonville.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Philip Lund will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bartonville.
