Ronald Dee Reed, 78, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 14, 1940 in Cobden, Illinois to Roy L. and Opal V. (Chichon) Reed. He married Mary E. Harms April 16, 1977 in Bartonville, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert (Nancy) Reed of Mackinaw, Illinois and Michael (Kim) Reed of Peoria, Illinois; four grandchildren, Alec, Kayleigh, Averie, Brody; one sister, Sandra (Chuck) Martin of Sulligent, Alabama and one brother, Marvin (Carolyn) Reed of Green Valley, Illinois and many nieces and nephews survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ronald was a printer for many years working for Howard Printing, E. J. Smith Printing and Macco Printing and later worked at OSF St. Francis. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Bartonville American Legion Post #979. He was an avid bowler. Ronald was street rod enthusiast and car builder, he loved drag racing, was a member of the Slo Pokes Car Club. The family encourages those street rod enthusiast who attend the services, bring your cars in honor of Ronald.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be 2 hours prior the services on Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. A continued Celebration of Life for Ronald will follow the burial at the Bartonville American Legion.
