Ruth M. Palazzo

Ruth M. Palazzo, 88, of Mapleton, Illinois, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Unity Point\Methodist Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. She was born on May 17, 1927 in Kewanee, Illinois to Alfred and Vivian (Hood) Neuendorf. She married Francisco “Frank” Palazzo on August 27, 1946 in Pekin, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1997 in Peoria, Illinois. She is also preceded by 2 sons, Francisco Jr. and Gregory, 1 granddaughter, Brandi, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

She is survived by 5 children, Susan Eubanks of Pekin, Illinois, Dennis (Lynn) Palazzo of Oquawka, Illinois, Thomas, Jeffrey and Terrance Palazzo all of Mapleton, Illinois; one daughter in law, Karen Palazzo of Bartonville; 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Patricia Redman, Norma Kuntz, Marilyn Anderson and two brothers, Alfred and Larry Neuendorf.

Ruth worked over 30 years at Caterpillar Inc. retiring in 1991. She was a master floral gardener and a member of the American Lily Association and she attended the LaMarsh Baptist Church. Ruth was an avid Cardinal and Chicago Bears fan and loved NASCAR and Kyle Busch was her driver.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10 AM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. John Hopwood will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 PM until 4PM Sunday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
