Sammie Lee Burke

Bartonville: Sam L. Burke, 83, of Bartonville passed away at 6:20 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. Sam was born in Batesville, Panola County, MS on January 11, 1931 the son of Fred & Florence Darby Burke. He married Velma DeJaynes on March 7, 1958. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years; one son Ricky L. of East Peoria; two grandsons, Wesley and Spencer and their mother Jamie of Bartonville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings; two brothers and four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army in the 50’s and was a thirty-five year retiree of Caterpillar. He had an eternal love for his family, and was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Pastor Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
