She was born on September 12, 1947 to Earl F. and Phyllis L. Sherlock. She married James B. McGovern on January 20, 1965.
Sandy attended Manual High School in Peoria, IL before marrying and having children. She enjoyed blues music, reading, shopping, and spending time with family. She worked as a bus monitor for District 150 schools for several years.
Surviving are her son, Anthony (Tina) McGovern; daughter, Laura (Jim) Tessem; grandchildren, Savannah (Dalton) Dieckow and Jimmy Tessem; and great-grandchildren, Emilia and Dax Dieckow.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Tim Sherlock.
A Memorial Visitation in honor of Sandy will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel in Bartonville, IL.
