Born April 7, 1931, in Rushville, Illinois, Sarah was the daughter of Mark Peacock and Emma Davis. On January 4, 1950, she married Melvin Grafton, who preceded her in death on September 2, 1988.
Irene was employed for many years at the Alpha Park Library in Bartonville. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, and, most of all, spending time with her family and her great-great granddaughter Juliet every Sunday.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Grafton; sons, Don Grafton and Wayne Grafton; son-in-law, Jim Johnson; three grandchildren, Jamy, Jeremiah and Wendi; six great-grandchildren, Jessy, Jocelyn, Lindsey, Jordan, Griffin and Hayley; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; her daughter, Linda Johnson; a grandson, Michael; a great-grandson, Nathan; eight brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Burial will take place at Rushville Cemetery.
