Sharon Lynn Proctor was born in Peoria, Illinois on July 16, 1959, to David Sr and Mona Stewart. She graduated from Limestone High School in 1977 and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in 1981. She later returned to Western Illinois University to earn her Master’s Degree in Counseling.
Sharon devoted her entire 41 year professional career to child welfare, pouring her heart and soul into serving children and families, beginning at Covenant Children’s Home, then Catholic Social Services, and finally at the Department of Children and Family Services, retiring on July 1, 2021. She was a fierce and tireless advocate for children, and a generous and engaging co-worker and supervisor.
Sharon married the love of her life, Roger Proctor, on October 19, 2013, and loved every minute of sharing life with him in their beautiful home with their beloved fur babies. It is so fitting that she devoted her career to child welfare, because she used every bit of her being towards the welfare of others. She was the planner, the gatherer, the baker, the open door, and the giver. She gave and showed her love by caring for others and her family and friends who experienced this knew how blessed they were and are now feeling the deep pain of losing her.
Sharon managed to make every event and person feel special, whether it be sharing a cocktail by the fire table at night, relaxing on the shores of Lake Michigan, people watching in Las Vegas, cruising to Alaska, or sneaking a Galena getaway. She accepted and eventually embraced her conversion to being a Cardinal’s fan, and enjoyed many baseball weekends. Along with her generous nature came a sometimes spicy spirit, and the mischievous twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes will be missed.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Roger, children Andrew Proctor and Adam and Nicole Proctor, and brother David Jr and Cyndi Stewart. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Abby and Lincoln and niece and nephews Jessica and Randy Eimerman, Jake and Jamie Stewart, and Lane and Allison Stewart. She was blessed to have great nieces and nephews, Delaney and Ethan Stewart and Wesleigh Eimerman. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, David and Mona Stewart. Arrangements are pending at Davison-Fulton/Bartonville Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life will be held at her home on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 1-3pm.
Gone too soon is an understatement, but her incredible impact and love will shine on forever.
