She was born Feb. 1, 1939 in Des Moines, IA to Burlin and Laura (Lemon) Cornelison. She married George Haley on Oct. 30, 1955 in Burlington, IA. He passed away March 11, 2019 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jessica Mattson, and two brothers: Gerald and Boyd Cornelison.
Survivors include five children: Debbie Francis of Jefferson, GA, Theresa Mattson of Pekin, Dale Haley of Princeville, Rick (Sherri) Haley of Hanna City, Janet (David) Gill of Princeville, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Phyllis (Sam) Nash of Mapleton.
Shirley was a wife, mother, and co-owner of George Haley Logging. She picked up and delivered loads of logs, ran parts, and managed the business. Shirley’s CB handle was Go-Between. She was a member and enjoyed going to Crossroads Full Gospel Church in Midway. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, crafts, and gardening. She also liked going to races with George, and spending time with family and friends. Later in life Shirley enjoyed playing cards, bags, bingo, and watching the great-grandchildren.
Cremation rites have been accorded. For anyone wanting to pay their respects to Shirley or our family, we will be holding a Celebration of Shirley’s Life this Saturday, the 19th from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Glasford Legion, 11319 S Glasford Rd, Glasford, IL. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
