

Thomas "Tom" Edward Carr, a resident of Mapleton, Illinois, passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on July 27, 1934, in Peoria to Elmer and Mary (Ryan) Carr, Tom was a devoted family man and a skilled craftsman.
Tom graduated from Manual Training High School in 1952. He married Phyllis Heuermann on October 1, 1955, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage. Together, they raised three children: Brad (Peggy), Scott (Gayle), and Jenny (Doug). He was a proud grandfather to Bryant, Bret, Nicole, Drew, Matt, and Sara, and a great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren.
A dedicated carpenter, Tom was a member of Local 183 for 73 years. He built many homes, schools and firehouses. His commitment to community service was evident through his nine years on the Limestone Walters school board.
Tom and Phyllis shared a love for travel, visiting six of the seven continents. He was also a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Bradley Braves Basketball, holding season tickets for the Bradley Braves for 60 years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed pitching horseshoes, gardening, working on his farm and attending his grandchildrens' school and sports functions.
Funeral service will be held Monday, October 20, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bartonville with visitation being one hour prior to the service. Burial will conclude at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Richard L. Owens Hospice Home for their care.
