Ty J.R. Mathus

Ty Joseph Ristic "T.J." Mathus, 45, of Peoria, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He was born on April 18, 1980, in Peoria, to Robert L. and Pamela (Volz) Mathus. He was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents, Bernadette and Evan Mathus; maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Clayton Volz; brothers, Todd and Shane Mathus; and a cousin, Rashid Mathus.

Surviving are his mother, Pamela of Peoria; one brother, Chad Mathus of Wentzville, MO; one sister, Mindi Mathus of Peoria; two sons, Ryland and Reid Mathus of Peoria; two aunts, Judith of Tucson, AZ and Debra Mathus of Metamora, IL; and one uncle, Ronald of East Peoria, IL. Also surviving are three nephews, Nolan Browder, Evan Mathus, and Talon Mathus; and one niece, Remi Fulton.

T.J. worked at Hoagland Construction doing painting and renovating. He enjoyed spending his free time at his son’s basketball and baseball games. He welcomed life with a heart full of warmth and a humor that reminded us not to take things so seriously. T.J. was a man of great resilience, a quality many try to attain. The love and laughs he gave so freely will forever live on in the hearts he touched.
