

Tyler A. Best, 23, of Metamora, Illinois, formerly of Bartonville, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at his residence. He was born on October 17, 1990 in Peoria, Illinois. He is the son of Kenneth A. and Debra K. (Johnson) Best.
He is survived by his mother and step father, Debra and Mike Kelso of Mapleton, Illinois; sister Tara (Ben) Homan of Bartonville; two step sisters, Shawn (Mike) Mehl of Peoria, Illinois and Jill (Steve) Reynen of Charlotte, North Carolina. He has three step nieces and two step nephews. Tyler is survived by grandparents, JoAnne Johnson of Peoria, Illinois, Carl and Rita Best of Bartonville, Illinois and Marv and Nancy Kelso of Buena Vista, Colorado; great grandparents, Kenneth and Eleanor Best of Bartonville, Illinois. He is survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. He shared his home with a special friend, Jobi Banas and her son Beau.
He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth A. Best and a grandfather, Ivan Johnson.
Tyler was a correctional officer for the State of Illinois at Pontiac Correctional Center for three years. He loved football and was a quarterback at Limestone High School. He played softball in various leagues at Alpha Park, and was an avid hunter and four wheeler enthusiast. He served on the Bartonville Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He loved his dog “Diesel”.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville. The Rev. Michael Jones and his grandfather, Rev. Marvin Kelso will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 3PM until 8PM on Sunday at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
