She was born in Peoria, Illinois on April 28, 1936, to Wilbur H. Lauterbach and Betty (Pugh) Lauterbach. She passed away on July 31, 2019, at the Renaissance Nursing Home in Canton, Illinois, after surgery and a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Mudd, of Canton, Illinois, and three children: Jay Thornton of Troy, Missouri; Felicia Chamberlain of Canton, Illinois; and Lee Chamberlain (Laura) of Troy, Missouri. Also surviving are her brother, William Lauterbach (Doris) of Alberta, Canada; two half-brothers, Wayland Lauterbach of Florida, and Allyn Lauterbach (Kim) of McLean, Illinois. There are six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her Father Wilbur H. Lauterbach, Step-father Imer Seaton, Mother Betty Seaton, and Sister Susan Yamamoto.
She graduated from Limestone High School in 1954, and pursued a career with National Fertilizer Co., and in Real Estate magazine layout and design. In later years, she and her husband Dennis owned and operated their own cleaning business for many years, before retiring.
Nancy inherited from her Mother a beautiful singing voice, and from her Father (who served several terms as Mayor of Bartonville) a great interest in politics, by serving on the Bartonville Board of Trustees.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. However, there will be a public Graveside service on Wednesday, August 7, at the Smithville Cemetery in Smithville, Illinois, at 1:00 p.m.
