

William A. “Bill” Kirkman, 89, of Hanna City, Illinois, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Unity Point Proctor Hospital in Peoria. He was born on January 17, 1926 in Edwards, Illinois to Arthur and Hazel (Slane) Kirkman. He married Betty Wright on March 28, 1948 in Peoria, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 15, 1999 in Peoria. He is also preceded by two brothers.
He is survived by two children, William (Linda) Kirkman of Warrenville, Illinois and Kelly (Rodney) Delicath of Peoria. He has three grandchildren, Lindsay Delicath, Jeremy and Mackenzie Kirkman; three great grandchildren, Chase, Colin and Cameron Clark. He has four brothers, Russell, Donald, Harry and James Sherlock and one sister, Mary Ann Pate.
Bill was a meat cutter for over 41 years working at Kroger’s and Haddad’s Stores, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Hanna City Sportsman’s Club, and the Meat Cutter’s Local Union. He was an avid bowler, fisherman and golfer and loved watching Cardinal baseball. Bill was a WWII Navy veteran serving on the US Midway as an aviation radioman and rear gunner.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 AM November 14, 2015 at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 AM until 10:30 AM at the funeral Chapel on Saturday. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery.
