Alpha King Ramsey

Born in Franklin County, January 23, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Thomas King and Dorothy Jones King. Also preceding her in death were sisters Hattie Cannady, Pauline Hutcherson, Edith DeHart, and brothers, Aaron King and Chester King.

She worked for DuPont for 16 years, retired from Bassett-Walker after 12 years of service, and was of the Primitive Baptist faith.

Surviving are her daughter, Shelby Tucker of Collinsville, her sons, Jerry Wayne Spencer of Pipestem, WV, and Gary Spencer of Collinsville, three sisters, Mary Toller of Martinsville, Lula Holley of Floyd, and Era Furrow of Callaway, brother, Arthur King of Richmond, a granddaughter, Rachel Tucker and two great-grandchildren, Derrick and Dominque Ruben.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, August 2, 2011, in Roselawn Burial Park with Kelly Ratcliff officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
