Aubrey Merrill Taylor, 80, of Woodglen Court in Collinsville, died Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Eden, NC on April 29, 1931 to the late Theodore Roosevelt Taylor and Carrie Lou Chandler Taylor. Mr. Taylor retired from the U S Marine Corp after 29 years of service, where he served in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Among the many medals and citations he received was the Purple Heart, Korean Presidential Citation, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation Cross of Gallantry and Vietnam Combat Action Ribbon. During his time in the Marine Corp, he graduated from Ben Franklin University in Washington, D.C.
Survivors include his wife, Anna M. Taylor of the residence; one daughter, Melinda Danen of Alabama; one son, Marc Taylor of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, Delano Taylor of Alabama; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 4, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Bassett.
All other services will be private.
