Betty Underwood Nickelston

Betty was born on November 30, 1931 in Franklin County, VA to Charlie L. Underwood and Maggie Radford Underwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Carter Nickelston, three sisters; Iris Underwood, Margie Martin and Glendola Miller, two brothers; Curtis E. Underwood and Cleo L. Underwood. She was employed by American Furniture Company for many years and after her retirement she continued to work at Walmart and Collinsville Printing Company. She attended Smith Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Nickelston is survived by two daughters; Jennifer Gregory (William Clark) and Pamela Anderson (Erik), two granddaughters; Adrienne Anderson (Kevin Ratcliff) and Molly Anderson (Julian Antonio Donoso Contreras), one great-granddaughter, Autumn Anderson and one step-grandson, Kevin Gregory.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, VA with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM with Reverend Ryan Ware officiating. Burial will be on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Burial Park.
