Carol Faye Ballard

Mrs.Carol Rakes Ballard, age 80 of Martinsville, VA passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Mrs. Ballard was born on April 5, 1944 to Wilton T. Rakes and Nannie Ethel Doss Rakes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Crabill. James Rakes, C.W. Rakes, Everett Rakes, Aaron Rakes, Charlie Rakes, Doug Rakes, Frances Peer, Pete Rakes and Cecil Rakes. She was the last survivor of her generation. She worked at Bassett Walker which changed to Vanity Fair for 40 years and worked at Sport Lanes for a brief moment. She loved to bowl, work in her garden and most of all loved her family. She was a member of Ridgeway Church of God and served in the Nursery when needed. She never met a stranger. Mrs. Ballard is survived by a son, James Robert “Bobby” Ballard, three grandsons, Anthony Ballard (Raina), Alexander Ballard (Emily Watson) and Aaron Ballard, one great grandson, Beaux Ballard. A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, Va. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kenny Daniels officiating. Burial will be private.
